VICE PRESIDENT FOR BUSINESS AFFAIRS

Saint Joseph’s College is seeking a Vice President for Business Affairs (VPBA) to manage all the financial interests of the College. Saint Joseph’s is a private, co-educational four-year Catholic institution founded in 1889 and sponsored by the Missionaries of the Precious Blood. The College, located in the bustling city of Rensselaer, Indiana, pledges itself to a tradition of excellence and to a liberal education that is a united endeavor of intelligence and faith. The College places exceptional emphasis on the education of the whole person. Today Saint Joseph’s College prepares over 1030 men and women to lead successful professional and personal lives consistent with Gospel values.

Reporting to the President, the Vice President for Business Affairs is charged with the oversight and management of the accounting and financial interests of the College which includes the College’s farms and physical plant. Under the direction of the President and Board, s/he manages securities, properties, and funds and prepares and maintains regular reports for the College endowment and investment portfolios. The Vice President for Business Affairs is responsible for all financial areas of the college as well as all accounting procedures. S/He supervises the Director of Human Resources, the Director of Physical Plant, the Director of Student Financial Services, the Controller, and the Executive Secretary for the VPBA.

The ideal candidate must possess a bachelor’s degree (master’s or terminal degree preferred) and have outstanding credentials both as an effective budget administrator and a strategic financial analyst. Three to five years of leadership experience that includes current, non-profit accounting practices and finance in higher education are required. S/He will have a strong ethical decision making ability and be able to provide leadership in a tight fiscal environment as an excellent collaborator. Strong communication skills and knowledge of physical plant operations is expected. The new Vice President for Business Affairs must be willing to participate in the SJC community and demonstrate an acceptance and willingness to perform the duties of the position within the philosophy and principles of good stewardship and Roman Catholic higher education.
