VICE PRESIDENT OF ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Rockford College (Rockford, IL) is accepting nominations and applications for its next Vice President of Academic Affairs (VPAA). Appointed by and reporting to the President, Dr. Robert Head, the Vice President serves as a member of the President’s Executive Council and is responsible for the strategic leadership of all academic programs and activities of the College.

Rockford College (founded 1847) is an independent, co-educational, liberal arts institution, located in Rockford, Illinois. The College is about 85 miles northwest of Chicago. The College offers over 70 majors, minors and programs, a return-to-college program in management studies, masters programs in business and teaching, and several community education programs. Rockford has been named a College with a Conscience and is designated a Best in the Midwest college by the Princeton Review for seven years running. Rockford College strives to prepare students for fulfilling lives, careers, and participation in a modern and changing global society.

The new Vice President of Academic Affairs will:
supervise all academic divisions and departments of the College, undergraduate and graduate, and all academic services, including the library, registrar, advising, faculty development, the assessment of student learning, institutional research, the Rockford College Learning Center, and the English Language Institute (ESL). Student Life also reports to this position, including residence life, student activities, the health center, career services, the Jane Addams Center for Civic Engagement, and the Kobe-Regents Center for Global Education.
coordinate interaction and communication between the faculty and administration, facilitate operation of the faculty governance structure, and recommend all full-time faculty and academic administrative appointments to the President.
serve as the chief executive officer of the College in the absence of the President.

Rockford College seeks an individual with proven leadership experience working in a liberal arts higher educational institution. S/He should have an earned doctorate from an accredited college or university; a distinguished record as a teacher and scholar; a practical and intellectual commitment to higher education; an understanding of the culture of a residential liberal arts college; an experience-based understanding of college accreditation practices; and a commitment to working effectively with other administrators, staff, and faculty in communicating the mission of the college.
