Associate Vice President for Global Engagement

RIVIER COLLEGE invites nominations and applications for the new position of Associate Vice President for Global Engagement. Rivier College is recognized for its more than 60 degree programs serving the needs of both traditional and non-traditional students. The College prides itself on small classes led by accomplished faculty who create an active, experience-based learning environment. Founded in 1933 by the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, Rivier College in Nashua, New Hampshire, is a four-year Catholic institution offering professional preparation and a liberal arts education for almost 2,300 undergraduate and graduate students. Rivier College seeks an experienced and entrepreneurial academic leader to coordinate a comprehensive college–wide strategic initiative of global engagement. One of three associate vice presidents reporting to the vice president of academic affairs under a newly realigned academic administrative structure and anticipated “university” status and working closely with the president, the associate vice president for global engagement will join with senior leadership to fulfill the core mission of Rivier of “Transforming hearts and minds to serve the world.”

Duties and Responsibilities
• Develops and manages agreements with international universities and organizations that result in full-time and summer enrollment of international students.
• Recruits and supports the retention of international students.
• Identifies opportunities to deliver hybrid and distance learning programs abroad.
• Creates a communication plan to engage the international community of Sisters of the Presentation of Mary who serve in 20 countries.
• Facilitates study abroad programs, international service experiences, and internships.
• Increases the number of international experiences for faculty and students.
• Implements the strategic vision for an advisory board for global initiatives.
• Promotes and supports faculty participation in the development of global and transnational curricula and academic programs.
• Serves as a resource to the divisions of arts and sciences, business and professional studies, nursing and health professions, education, and first year experience and core curriculum to develop international programs and activities.
• Represents Rivier College to a broad range of regional, national and international constituents.

Qualifications include: a commitment to the mission of Rivier College and the values of a Catholic higher education; a terminal degree (master’s degree acceptable); at least five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in international education and areas consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position; and United States citizenship or United States permanent residency.

Knowledge, Abilities and Specialized Skills:
• Ability to work and communicate effectively in culturally diverse communities both locally and abroad.
• Proven ability and experience negotiating, developing, and maintaining agreements with overseas partners and institutions.
• Understanding and application of instructional and communication related technologies necessary for global engagement.
• Experience promoting and supporting curricular and co-curricular internationalization on campus.
• Ability to plan and effectively communicate the needs of international students to offices and programs on campus including student development areas, academic advising, registrar, housing, and financial aid.
• Specific experience in international student admissions, study abroad program management, and immigration advising.
• Experience in study abroad initiatives including exchange programs and faculty-led programs.
• Proven ability to provide direction and guidance to faculty on international program development.
• Ability to identify external and grant funding opportunities.
• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills and commitment to diversity.
