Regis College is seeking nominations and applications for the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts, Education and Social Sciences (SLAESS). The College, founded in 1927, is a diverse and welcoming community guided by the values of the founders, the Sisters of St. Joseph of Boston. Located on a lovely 132-acre campus in Weston, Massachusetts. Regis is a Catholic, liberal arts and sciences co-educational college that empowers women and men to challenge themselves academically, to serve and to lead. Accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges (NEASC), Regis College boasts an enrollment of over 1,900 undergraduate and graduate students, a student/faculty ratio of 13:1, and offers seventeen majors, thirty minors, honors program, teacher licensure, and a combined bachelor’s/master’s option. While the students pursue diverse majors, they all share a common curriculum that develops skills in academic inquiry, communication and reasoning.

The Dean of SLAESS will be a professional educator and a visionary leader who is committed to the mission and goals of Regis College. The dean will be a source of ideas and inspiration, directing the program growth that enhances the institution’s local and national prominence in the arts and sciences. The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communications skills and the ability to work in a respectful and friendly manner with the college’s many communities: the campus, the city, the region, nationally and internationally.

Reporting to the newly appointed 11th President, Antoinette M. Hays, PhD, RN, and working closely with the Dean of the School of Nursing, Science and Health Professions, the dean will be responsible for overall academic and strategic leadership of the SLAESS. In collegial collaboration with the faculty, students, and staff, the dean will provide supervision of the school’s disciplinary and interdisciplinary programs, both undergraduate and graduate, in the liberal arts, education, and social sciences. In collaboration with the dean of SNSHP, the SLAESS dean also will oversee general education (including core curriculum and co-curriculum) and assessment for all Regis students, as well as related service programs and activities throughout the college.

The successful candidate will have: an earned doctorate from an accredited U.S. college or university; passion for the school’s mission; the vision for integrating the liberal arts into a professionally oriented undergraduate curriculum; a record of success in teaching and scholarship; a record of innovative administrative leadership in an academic setting; and the willingness and ability to lead through shared and cross-disciplinary decision-making. S/He must have a working knowledge of assessment and the accreditation processes in the arts and sciences; demonstrated accomplishments in policy, planning, management, budgeting, and human resource development; an understanding of the value and place of technology in education; an appreciation of and/or experience in institutional advancement and external fund raising and the willingness to cultivate and maintain productive relationships with internal and external constituencies. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and intercultural skills with the ability to maintain strong and positive relationships with faculty, students, and administrators is desired.
