Director of Education for Oxford International School

The Director of Education is both the education and executive overseer for all operations for Oxford International School (OIS).  The Director reports to the Corporate Board Vice President of Grupo Interamericano. The Director is accountable to the Board of Trustees and, through statute, to the Minister of Education in Panama for the organization and operation of OIS.  All Board authority delegated to staff, both certified and classified, is delegated through the Director. 

Areas of Responsibility of the Director of OIS


Student Welfare
All policies and procedures that:
provide a safe and secure environment that fosters and maintains all traits essential in building character driven behaviors for all the students and staff at OIS. 
provide equal opportunity for each student the essential facilities needed for academic success.
address all emergency preparedness plans that might occur given the physical environment of OIS.
address Ministry of Education statues for mandatory attendance procedures for students at OIS.

Educational Leadership
All policies and procedures:
that promote an educational culture that supports student success through best practices in Instruction and Assessment.
for certified staff to analyze, coordinate, and recommend curriculum mapping.
that promote clear, consistent expectations and all aspects of critical thinking in an atmosphere of a bilingual environment of Spanish and English for all.  
essential to ensure that OIS students have the opportunity to meet the curriculum standards mandated by the Ministry of Education of Panama. 
That will develop and maintain positive and effective network relations with collegiate schools and the Ministry of Education. 

Fiscal Responsibilities
All Policies and procedures essential:
to the adoption and administration of school budget in accordance to the Board of Trustees and MED. 
in maintaining and monitors appropriate budgetary controls.
in the development and implementation of a business marketing plan. 

Organizational Management
All Policies and procedures essential:
in planning, coordinating and conducting appropriate meetings for areas of responsibility by OIS personnel. 
with the development of information system standards. 
in the design and implementation of new and revised systems to ensure effective and efficient service for all shareholders of OIS.
in the creation and implementation of a Quality Assurance Model that will serve all systemic models universally by OIS.

Strategic Planning
All Policies and procedures:
fundamental to conducting research, analyze data, and make recommendation pertaining to administrative, organizational, and operational issues at OIS.
that provide overall direction for OIS by establishing the mission, vision and belief statements for all shareholders.
that set priorities with outcomes focused in meeting defined outcomes, through data, for an annual and biannual forecast.
to annually approve and implement a distribution model of the outcomes reached in the Strategic Plan to all the shareholders of OIS.  
that focus on the annual evaluation process that will define the Strategic Plan to formulate the budget process as outlined by Grupo Interamericano.

Personnel Management
The new Director has overall authority and responsibility for all personnel-related issues except those personnel matters precluded by Board policy, legislation or collective agreements. S/He will oversee all Policies and procedures essential:
in the recruitment of all qualified personnel positions both classified and certified at OIS.
for a systemic evaluation process to be administered for the selection, supervision, development and performance review of all staff. 

Policy and Procedures
The new Director of Education will assist with the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies, and priorities, and regularly review policies to ensure that they reflect the desired impact and/or purpose for which they were designed.

Director and Board Relations
The Director of Education will provide advice to the Minister of Education and the Provincial Trustee Association regarding regional and local implications of funding and policy recommendations. He or she will also approve policy statements that meet the criteria identified by the Minister of Education and Grupo Interamericana.
  
Communication and Community Relations
The new Director of Education will:
act in accordance with the Minister of Education in all regulatory standards, and other statutory requirements to ensure the implementation of provincial and education policies.
develop policies that outline how the Oxford International School will successfully function.  
ensure that all new policies have in place a purpose statement prior to development and implementation.
maintain communications through administrative channels to and from all levels of faculty. 
assure that Student, Staff and District Recognition (Public Relations) are honored
establish processes providing the community with opportunities for input.
outline the complaint process for all stakeholders.

REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS
 

Education: Master’s Degree in Education

Experience should include the following but not limited to:  ,
Planning, budgeting, personnel selection, supervision, evaluation, curriculum development and assessment.  
Experience in an accredited PK-12 education level environment. 
Experience with building successful partnerships with business, community agencies, K-12 schools, and higher education, and being active in the community. 
Experience with Career and Technical Education programs at the post- secondary level. 

Personal Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  
Bring a spirit of enthusiasm, energy, and multi-cultural awareness.  
Possess strong written and oral communication abilities in both English and Spanish.  
Possess excellent interpersonal skills in the areas of collaboration, team participation, creative problem-solving, conflict resolution, group planning, and decision-making processes.  
Be faculty and student focused. 
Encourage use of technology in the delivery of instruction as well as understand the challenges that faculty and students face in its use.  
Work well without close supervision.  
Follow through to completion of assigned tasks.  
Be proficient in computer applications.
Have a desire to grow both personally and professionally.  
Demonstrate knowledge and good judgment in matters of college policy and procedures.  
Be able to work evenings and weekends. 
 
Physical Demands:
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. 
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear. 
Have a basic understanding of the workings of electronic devices with the ability to use tools specific to the operation of computers. 
Be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
