Assistant Director of Nursing

The College of Mount Saint Vincent (Riverdale, New York) seeks an Assistant Director of Nursing with a strong, student-centered focus, a demonstrated record of effective teaching, academic and current clinical expertise, and an earned doctorate in nursing or a closely related field. Appointment will begin July 1, 2012.

Founded in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of New York, Mount Saint Vincent was the first women’s college in New York City and began conferring baccalaureate degrees in 1911. Its programs became coeducational in 1974. 

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with approximately 1350 undergraduate students and 225 graduate students located in Riverdale, New York. Located on a beautiful 70-acre campus of rolling lawns and wooded hills overlooking the Hudson River, the College is just 12 miles from midtown Manhattan. The recently reaccredited (Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE)) Nursing program also offers courses at our Mid-Manhattan site and Nursing faculty teach at both locations. Deeply rooted in its Catholic tradition and mission, the College continues to prepare students for lives of professional accomplishment and service. 

The Assistant Director works with the Director to manage the academic programs, faculty and staff in the Department of Nursing. Additional responsibilities include teaching in both the undergraduate and graduate programs, advising and mentoring students, engaging in scholarly activities and participating in service activities. The Assistant Director must have at least six years of full-time college faculty experience. This is a tenure eligible faculty position with 12-month administrative responsibilities. Excellent organizational, supervisory, and communication skills are required, as well as the ability to work collaboratively and effectively with diverse student populations, faculty, and staff. Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with credentials and experience. AA/EOE
