Director of Financial Assistance

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is conducting a search for the position of Director of Financial Assistance. Founded in 1847 by the Sisters of Charity of New York, Mount Saint Vincent was the first women’s college in New York City and began confering baccalaureate degrees in 1911. Its programs became coeducational in 1974. Deeply rooted in its Catholic tradition and mission, the College continues to prepare students for lives of professional accomplishment and service. 

The Director of Financial Assistance will be responsible for the development and implementation of financial aid strategies, procedures and policies to assist in meeting the College’s enrollment goals. Reporting to the Vice President of Admissions, the Director will also serve as the Chief Compliance Officer for Title IX federal aid regulations

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Oversee all administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office by designing workflow, assigning workflow, supervising staff work activities and providing ongoing professional development opportunities for all personnel
• Develop a communication plan to prospective and current students, and administer the financial aid leveraging plan to assist in the recruitment and retention of all first year and transfer students.
• Develop and monitor the financial aid budget for the College
• Manage, train and develop a team of Financial Aid professionals to ensure compliance with all applicable federal and institutional rules and policies and ensure a high level of student service
• Serve as the college’s primary institutional resource for financial aid issues and collaborate with Senior Administrators regarding new policies
• Serve on several college wide committees relating to student success
• Represent the College at State, Regional and National Conferences
• Lead the financial aid appeals and scholarship retention committee
• Assist the Admission Office with select recruitment activities both on and off campus.

Requirements:
• Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred with a minimum of 6 years of progressively responsible experience in financial aid, 2 years as a supervisor preferred
• Strong organizational & leadership skills, including demonstrated ability to train & develop staff
• Progressive thinker with a vision to identify and integrate appropriate technology into the financial aid process
• Strong commitment to customer service, excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with a diverse student population
• Successful candidate should have experience with an integrated database (Banner preferred)
