Physical Therapy Chairperson

The College of Mount St Joseph (MSJ) is accepting nominations and applications for a full-time Physical Therapy Chairperson for its accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy program. The College of Mount St. Joseph, located in Cincinnati, Ohio, is a Catholic co-educational college, founded in 1920 by the Sisters of Charity, that provides more than 2,400 students with a liberal arts and professional education that emphasizes the values, integrity, and social responsibility.

The Physical Therapy program’s mission and philosophy grow from the liberal arts and sciences tradition of the College as the basis for educating responsible physical therapists. Since 1999 the College has been privileged to participate in the education and development of proficient, caring, and well rounded physical therapists as evidenced by comments from clinical instructors and employers. The MSJ DPT program boasts an overall licensure exam pass rate of 100% (class of 2009, 2010). Faculty and students are members of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and participate at the national and state levels by attending professional meetings and presenting research findings.  The best thing about the Mount is the dedication of faculty to insure student success; the most unique thing is the opportunity to take electives in specialty areas of PT practice such as sports medicine, animal rehab and advanced neuro rehab.

The Physical Therapy Chair qualifications include:
• Associate professor with a research doctorate (Ed.D., Ph.D or equivalent).
• Proven record of academic leadership in a university setting
• Record of scholarly publications
• Proven record of teaching excellence in physical therapy education
• Evidence of service to the profession and or the community
• Vision related to program growth
• Expertise in any practice pattern

The ideal candidate will have experience with CAPTE accreditation and academic program assessment in addition to scholarship, citizenship, advising and teaching. S/He will have the insight, vision, drive and dedication to help move the PT program to the next level. In addition to the administrative responsibilities of a program chair, qualified applicants will demonstrate effective leadership skills, mentoring of junior faculty through an established scholarship agenda, and a history of developing and implementing a successful initiative.
