The University of Great Falls (www.ugf.edu), founded in 1932 through the collaborative efforts of the Sisters of Providence, the Ursuline Sisters, the Catholic Bishop of Great Falls, and the civic community all of whom recognized societal need for higher education, continues to be the shared endeavor of dedicated people. As an expression of the teaching mission of Jesus Christ, the mission of the University of Great Falls is to provide students with the opportunity to obtain an education for living and for making a living. The University is a private, co-educational Roman Catholic liberal arts institution located in Great Falls MT on a 44 acre park-like tract of land between Yellowstone and Glacier National Park. Serving over 1075 students, the University of Great Falls offers undergraduate, graduate and distance learning degrees in over 50 disciplines and participates in NAIA Region I athletics.

The Vice President for Academic Affairs reports to the President, serves as the principal academic officer of the University, and is responsible for the administration of the University in the absence of the President. This position also is responsible for the academic budget, leadership of the faculty, and academic program development including community outreach programs, oversight of institutional accreditation, and promoting scholarly and creative activities. S/He will be deeply involved in creating and deepening “high impact’ practices that engage students. This includes common learning experiences, undergraduate research, study abroad, internships, capstone experiences, and critical thinking.

The University of Great Falls seeks an individual with proven administrative leadership experience, preferably in a Catholic higher educational institution. S/He should have an earned doctorate; a distinguished record as a teacher and scholar; and a commitment to interact effectively with other administrators, staff, peers, faculty, students and the public in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner. The ideal candidate is a Roman Catholic who has impeccable integrity, exemplary oral and written communication skills, strong attention to detail, and the values and passion of the University’s mission. The start date will be July 1, 2012.
