EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF INSTITUTIONAL ADVANCEMENT

Corning Community College (CCC) invites nominations and applications for the position of Executive Director of Institutional Advancement (EDIA). The College, founded in 1956 by the Corning-Painted Post School District, began modestly in a scattering of old buildings in the city of Corning, New York. Today, the College encompasses a 550-acre main campus on Spencer Hill with a complex of eight buildings plus an observatory and planetarium.  CCC has also expanded its vision to provide services at a variety of off-campus sites throughout Steuben, Chemung and Schuyler counties to include facilities in the Business Development Center, Airport Corporate Park, the Goff Road Criminal Justice facility, and the Elmira Center. In 2010, CCC was ranked among the top 50 colleges in the country by Washington Monthly and in 2011 was ranked among the top 10% of community colleges nationwide by the Aspen Institute. The College is a member of the State University of New York (SUNY), and is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education and the National League for Nursing. The Executive Director of Institutional Advancement, reporting to the newly appointed President of the College, Dr. Katherine Douglas, will provide the leadership for the planning, organization, and implementation of a comprehensive Institutional Advancement program. S/He will serve as the chief advancement officer, supervise the staff of Institutional Advancement, and be responsible for a communications program, alumni program, institutional events, and resource development. The EDIA directs all fundraising activities, including the Annual Fund, Planned Giving Program, major gifts, capital projects, named funds, specialized campaigns, and other priorities established by the College. In alignment with the College’s strategic initiatives, s/he will develop and implement the College’s Annual Development Plan and serve as liaison between the College, the Development Foundation and regional businesses and industry.  In addition, the EDIA will develop and direct a comprehensive communications program that will include legislative relations. S/He will administer the IA Office budget and prepare written reports to the President, Regional Board of Trustees, and the CCC Development Foundation. The College and Foundation are being positioned to embark on a major capital campaign. The IA Office will take the lead on communications, publications and marketing for the College and collaboration with other offices will be integral.

The new Executive Director of Institutional Advancement should have a Master’s degree in business administration, organizational management, or a related field, and/or CFRE credentials, and a minimum five years of demonstrated successful fundraising and administrative experience in institutional advancement, ideally in a community college environment. S/He will partner with the President to secure the financial resources necessary to meet the challenges of a competitive higher education market. Compensation and benefit package are excellent and commensurate with experience.
