VICE PRESIDENT ACADEMIC AFFAIRS

Holy Family University (www.HolyFamily.edu), is a private, Catholic, co-educational institution, founded in 1954 by the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. The University boasts an enrollment of over 3,100 students in 45 degree programs throughout its four schools: Arts & Sciences, Business Administration, Education, and Nursing & Allied Health Professions. The accelerated degree programs are offered by the Division of Extended Learning.  Holy Family has several locations in eastern Pennsylvania.  Its main campus is located in northeast Philadelphia, which serves and houses the traditional undergraduate as well as offering a variety of graduate programs. Holy Family-Newtown, in Bucks County, offers undergraduate education courses, graduate programs in education, counseling psychology and criminal justice and select courses in the accelerated programs.  Holy Family-Woodhaven in Bensalem Township, Bucks County, serves as home to the Division of Extended Learning and the continuing education and accelerated degree programs. The University’s accelerated MBA also is available in Quakertown at Spring Hill Suites.

 

The Position:   Holy Family seeks an energetic person with the experience, creativity, and the vision to lead the academic functions of the University. Reporting to the Provost, the VPAA will be the chief academic officer of the institution and a member of the Senior Administration. S/He will have overall responsibility for: the School Deans (4), the Associate Vice Presidents (2); the Executive Director of the Newtown Campus; the Director of Library Services; the Director of Cooperative Education; and the Director of CAE.

 

Qualifications:   The ideal candidate must possess a terminal degree in academic discipline or higher education administration from a regionally accredited institution; understanding of academic assessment, program review, curriculum development and academic support services; and have first-hand knowledge of local, regional and national accreditation standards; five years experience in academic supervision and leadership; a distinguished record of teaching, scholarship and collegial service, ideally at a small private college; and a strong commitment and appreciation for the role of a Catholic college in 21st century America. The new VPAA must have impeccable integrity, exemplary oral and written communication skills, and Hands-on experience with institutional administrative computer system in applications related to academic programming.
