Dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies

 

The College of Mount Saint Vincent (www.mountsaintvincent.edu) is accepting nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies (SPGS)

 

The College is seeking a creative and dynamic person, with a deep commitment to academic quality and strong leadership and entrepreneurial skills.  Reporting to the Provost, the successful candidate is responsible for providing leadership for SPGS, including planning, budget, and oversight for the College’s graduate programs, undergraduate accelerated program in nursing, professional training programs, continuing education and certificate programs as well as the College’s special sessions (College-wide) offered during the Winter and Summer sessions.  The Dean of SPGS is also responsible for the supervision of the College’s offsite programming at six locations throughout the New York Metropolitan area and for establishing, supporting and expanding a wide variety of SPGS international programs. 

 

Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree;
  • Significant administrative experience in developing, managing and growing graduate and professional academic offerings;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and success in developing academic programs, exploiting a range of learning modalities, and identifying synergies between departments for unique educational offerings;
  • Preference given to someone with scholarship and/or administrative leadership in one or more of the programs currently offered by SPGS; and
  • Skills in collaboration, strategic thinking, and organization.

 

About The College of Mount Saint Vincent

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is an academically excellent, authentically inclusive, Catholic and ecumenical liberal arts college with a total enrollment of 1,800 students.  Currently, 325 students are enrolled in SPGS, the College’s entrepreneurial arm comprised of graduate, second bachelors and continuing education programs.  More than half of SPGS students are enrolled in master’s programs in Business (MBA), International Development and Service (MS), Nursing (MS), and Teacher Education (MS).  The college seeks to grow these programs and develop new ones. 

 

About Riverdale, NY

The College of Mount Saint Vincent is located in scenic Riverdale, New York, which is an affluent and upper middle class residential neighborhood in the northwest portion of the Bronx in New York City.  Riverdale covers about three square miles in area. It has one of the highest elevations in New York City, affording it views of the Empire State Building, George Washington Bridge, Hudson River, and the New Jersey Palisades.  It is also noted for the numerous parks and expanses of greenery and original forest that complement its hilly landscape.
