PROVOST

Georgian Court University seeks an exceptional leader to serve as its next Provost.  Reporting to the President, the Provost is the chief academic and student life officer of the University, serves as a vital member of the senior leadership team, and provides campus-wide leadership in achieving the mission of the University.

Georgian Court University, founded and sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy, offers an extremely safe and nurturing campus environment with individualized attention and guidance. Open to students of all faiths, the University provides comprehensive liberal arts education in the Roman Catholic tradition. The unique atmosphere is one of a small college ambiance in a technologically advanced, highly esteemed university setting. Georgian Court University offers more than 30 undergraduate degrees, 10 graduate degrees, and a variety of certificates in a wide range of areas. The University is located in residential Lakewood, New Jersey, conveniently situated 60 miles from New York and Philadelphia and only 10 miles from the beautiful Jersey Shore.  As of Fall 2013, after a long history as a women's college with co-educational graduate programs and undergraduate evening programs, Georgian Court has become fully co-educational.

Partnering closely with deans, department chairs, vice presidents, and other members of the President's cabinet, the Provost is responsible for aligning resource allocation with strategy. The Provost provides specific leadership in strategic planning, budget management, academic program development and review, research and sponsored projects, and faculty development. The successful candidate will be responsible for strengthening the University's academic enterprise; recruiting and retaining outstanding faculty and staff; improving student life, retention, and completion; and identifying partnerships and efficiencies that lead to a thriving future for GCU. The University seeks an experienced academic leader who is committed to student success, will inspire the faculty, and will work with the President and leadership to fulfill the University's Mercy Catholic mission and strategic plan.

The successful candidate should have an earned doctorate from an accredited college or university; a distinguished record as a teacher and scholar; implementation of creative and strategic initiatives, a practical and intellectual commitment to higher education; and an understanding of and strong commitment to the mission of the University. In addition, the next Provost will have a strong administrative record, a commitment to excellence and innovation in academia, and an unwavering sense of ethics and commitment to the importance of collaboration and integrity in the handling of all academic matters.
