Physical Therapy Faculty

Simmons College (MA) is accepting nominations and applications for a FULL-TIME TENURE TRACK FACULTY member.  Under the leadership of President Helen Drinan, “Strategy 2015”, the first five-year phase of Simmons College’s strategic initiative, is underway. The Simmons College School of Nursing and Health Sciences (SNHS) is well positioned to be a strong proponent of this new initiative.

 

The Physical Therapy Program was founded at Simmons in 1947 and has a long history of providing quality professional education to leaders and highly regarded practitioners of the future. The faculty members of the program are experienced educators and respected clinicians who are dedicated to creating a learning community that values engaged students, mentoring of students, active learning opportunities, evidence based research and clinical coursework, small group case-based learning activities, and strong clinical experiences enhanced by faculty mentorship. High student performance on the NPTE, student employment upon graduation, and employer and patient satisfaction with Simmons Physical Therapy alumni are indicators of the strength of the curriculum, faculty effectiveness and student dedication. As a member of the Longwood Healthcare community that consists of nationally ranked hospitals and the Harvard Schools of Medicine, Dentistry and Public Health, Simmons provides the healthcare academic with unique opportunities for academic, research and clinical collaborations.

FULL-TIME PHYSICAL THERAPY FACULTY - The successful candidate will join our current faculty dedicated to maintaining and advancing the Simmons Physical Therapy Program's strong national stature, ranking, and impact in the 21st century.

 

FACULTY REQUIREMENTS: Candidate for the 10-month, tenure track position must have:

  • an Academic or Research Doctorate (i.e., an earned Ph.D. in Physical Therapy or related discipline)
  • Ongoing scholarly activity that includes research, grant funding and publication
  • Advanced Specialization in Neurological or Orthopedic Physical Therapy
  • 3-5 years experience in research activities and 3-5 years college teaching experience
  • Excellence in teaching and experience with courses in an area of clinical or research expertise
  • Skill in hybrid and online course design and delivery as well as an interest in the adult learner are preferred.
