Department of Physical Therapy Chair
Saint Francis University invites applications for individuals with exceptional leadership and management skills for the position of Chair of the Department of Physical Therapy.
Saint Francis University is a small, private, liberal arts institution in the Catholic, Franciscan tradition. Founded by Franciscan Friars in 1847, Saint Francis University is the oldest Franciscan college/university in the United States. Located in rural Loretto, Pennsylvania, the University enrolls approx. 1,700 undergraduate students and 700 graduate students. Saint Francis offers more than 30 undergraduate majors and graduate programs to about 2,500 students. By emphasizing values, skills and knowledge each program provides an understanding of Franciscan heritage, values and traditions. The mission of the Physical Therapy department is to educate competent, ethical, caring doctors of physical therapy who practice autonomously, at an entry level, in a complex healthcare environment, and who demonstrate critical thinking, cultural competence, and an evidence-based approach.
Saint Francis is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual who will guide an established faculty of eight in continuing to meet the doctor of physical therapy program expected goals and outcomes. In addition to administrative and teaching responsibilities, this 12-month tenure-track position offers opportunities to collaborate or further develop a personal research agenda in the Human Performance Laboratory at the DiSepio Institute for Rural Health and Wellness. State–of-the-art equipment is available for use in both the laboratory and the on-campus interdisciplinary rehabilitation clinic to support individual and graduate student clinical and research experiences.
The successful candidate will have an academic doctoral degree in physical therapy or a related field (Ph.D., Ed.D., D.Sc.) and be licensed or eligible for licensure as a physical therapist in Pennsylvania. Prior administrative and teaching experience in higher education is expected. Clinical or teaching expertise in neurologic rehabilitation, acute care, or amputation/wound management is desirable.
