DIRECTOR, MASTER'S LEVEL PHYSICIAN ASSISTANT PROGRAM

Charles R. Drew University of Medicine and Science (CDU) invites applications and nominations for the position of Director of the Master’s Level Physician Assistant Program.  Reporting to the Dean of the College of Science and Health, the Founding Program Director is responsible for all aspects of administration and planning for the Physician Assistant Program.

Responsibilities for the Director of the Master’s Level Physician Assistant Program include:

  • Marshaling the energies of the entire faculty to achieve its stated goals and objectives
  • Developing and planning all aspects of the PA Program, with a focus on curriculum
  • Establishing clinical rotation sites
  • Preparing all accreditation reports and documents  for the Master’s Level PA Program
  • Supervising program faculty and staff
  • Preparing and managing  the program budget
  • Acquiring external funds to support the mission and development of the program
  • Managing all aspects of the accreditation process
  • Overseeing the admissions process for prospective students and student affairs for program students
  • Leading the efforts for continual monitoring ,assessment and analysis of the program
  • Demonstrating willingness to work effectively with a diverse community
  • Developing and overseeing policies and procedures to ensure that appropriate data is obtained and retained to effectively evaluate didactic and clinical components of the program

 

Requirements: The qualified candidate will

  • Possess Master’s degree in Physician Assistant or related field (Doctorate preferred)
  • Hold current NCCPA certification
  • Possess California Physician Assistant licensure or eligibility for California licensure
  • Have a minimum of three years of experience as a PA in clinical practice
  • Have a minimum of five years administration experience in an educational setting, preferably in medical or PA education: previous PA program development and ARC-PA accreditation experience preferred
  • Have a minimum of three years of teaching experience
  • Be PC proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.).
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written skills
  • Be able to summarize and prioritize work product and processes
  • Demonstrate proactive communication with supervisors, peers and team members to maintain efficiency and productivity and meet deadlines
