DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF ONLINE LEARNING

 

The University of Incarnate Word (www.UIW.edu) is seeking nominations and applications for a Dean of the School of Online Learning. Reporting to the Vice President of Extended Academic Programs, the Dean is responsible for all programs and services of the School of Online Learning offered through the Division of Extended Academic Programs, which is composed of the School of Online Learning, the School of Extended Studies (adult evening) and Preparatory Programs (high schools).

In collaboration with the VP, the other deans, and the directors of the division, the Dean of the School of Online Learning is responsible for:

  • maintaining and growing the existing online program;
  • meeting enrollment goals of the division;
  • curriculum, program development and learning outcomes assessment;
  • direct supervision, faculty hiring, mentoring and development  of the faculty;
  • developing  strategies for increasing retention and new growth;
  • financial management; and
  • strategic planning.

The successful candidate will have the ability to interact successfully within the academic environment, as well as be an effective representative of the program to the external community.  This person will have excellent interpersonal skills, and must be an effective communicator on all levels.  S/He will possess an excellent work ethic, with experience in leading by example.  S/He will demonstrate an enthusiastic and entrepenurial spirit.

 

Requirements for the position are:

  • Master’s degree with Ph.D. (or equivalent Doctoral degree) preferred;
  • Demonstrated understanding and experience with the military student and market;
  • Minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible experience in higher or military education;
  • Strong and successful management experience;
  • Familiarity working within the SOC framework to develop programs and articulations is a plus;
  • A collaborative relationship with faculty, students and staff;
  • Familiarity with methods and issues of assessment; and
  • Ability to communicate effectively the mission and values of the University
