DEPARTMENT OF NURSING CHAIR

Rockford University Department of Nursing (www.rockford.edu) is seeking nominations and applications for a Chair for the Department of Nursing for Spring 2014.  Rockford University is a small liberal arts institution with curricula grounded in the liberal arts that are complemented and extended by professional and practical experience.  Rockford’s Nursing program is one of the University’s prime examples of integrating the liberal arts and professional/practical experience with pass rates on the NCLEX exam ranging from 92-100% over the past three years.

The Department of Nursing is expanding and the Chair will also be a full-time tenure-track faculty member.  The focus of the position is to provide enthusiastic and effective teaching in his/her specialized field of nursing and administrative leadership to the Nursing Department.  The successful candidate will be required to participate on committees within the Nursing Department as well as within the university community, student registration and academic advisement.  A doctoral degree in nursing or a related field (PhD, EdD, DNS, DNP) is required along with a minimum of two years of clinical experience in the related teaching area.  The candidate must be licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of Illinois or eligible for Illinois licensure as a Registered Nurse.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a park-like setting that is nestled into a small urban environment that supports three robust medical centers (OSF Saint Anthony Medical Center, Swedish American Medical Center and Rockford Health System).  The Department of Nursing is part of the College of Science, Math and Nursing.
