DEAN OF THE SCHOOL OF PROFESSIONAL AND GRADUATE STUDIES

ST. JOSEPH’S COLLEGE, New York, invites nominations and applications for the position of Dean of the School of Professional and Graduate Studies.  Founded in Brooklyn in 1916, St. Joseph’s is an independent and co-educational College that prepares students for lives of integrity, social responsibility and service - lives that are worthy of the College's motto, Esse non videri - "To be and not to seem." The new Dean will split his/her time between the two campus locations: Patchogue, Long Island and Brooklyn, NY. 

The new Dean has academic and administrative responsibility for all programs and services offered through the School of Professional and Graduate Studies (PGS).  Reporting to the Provost and serving as a member of the President’s Council, the Dean plays a key role in the visionary leadership, planning, budgeting, management, and implementation of new and continuing programs related to all aspects of professional and continuing education at the College.  

 

St. Joseph’s College seeks an academic professional with demonstrated knowledge of the needs of the adult learner. S/He should have a Ph.D. (or equivalent Doctoral degree); a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in higher education with a focus on undergraduate and graduate online, continuing education and professional programs; experience in a senior administrative position with supervisory and budgetary responsibilities; multi-site experience preferred.  S/He must have the ability to communicate effectively the mission and values of the College, have impeccable integrity, exemplary oral and written communication skills, with a strong attention to detail; appreciation of the importance of encouraging diversity in the college community and across the curriculum; familiarity with methods and issues of assessment; and a commitment to engaging effectively with faculty, students and staff.
