Dean of the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Studies

Midway College

Midway College seeks a Dean to lead the School of Business, Equine, and Sport Studies.  Founded in 1847, the institution serves traditional undergraduate women in the Women’s College and both men and women in accelerated undergraduate and graduate programs.  It is located in the Bluegrass region of central Kentucky amid rolling hills, Thoroughbred farms, and the Bourbon Trail and is within driving distance of Lexington, Louisville, and Cincinnati.

Reporting to the Provost and a member of the Academic Affairs Council, the dean will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the School, from personnel evaluation and management to course scheduling and communication with internal and external constituencies.

Most importantly, the dean will be a thoughtful and energetic leader capable of mentoring faculty members and marshalling their expertise to create new programs across disciplinary lines and make efficient use of resources across the School and the College.  The dean must also be able to work with both academia and industry and make connections with business and equine leaders.

We seek an individual who is a visionary with a desire to create, to help faculty grow, and to develop students into ethical, knowledgeable, and committed professionals.  He or she must be a leader who is also willing to roll up his or her sleeves to complete the necessary work and wear the multiple hats that small institutions require of their leaders.

Qualifications:  Doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in an appropriate discipline (preference with a PhD), at least five years in an administrative capacity at the department level or above in higher education, and a positive record of program curriculum creation, fiscal and personnel management, teaching, and scholarship. Salary is commensurate with experience.  Rank open.
