Elmira College is seeking a Director of Institutional Research who will be responsible for developing, leading, and managing a comprehensive institutional research program. Elmira College is a small, residential, liberal arts college in a pleasant community in the Finger Lakes region of New York State (county population 100,000).  Average class size is 16; student-faculty ratio is 12:1.

 

Reporting directly to the President, the Director works with all offices and constituencies of the College to advance decision-making and policy-making in areas such as strategic planning budget allocation, enrollment planning, advancement, institutional effectiveness and assessment by collecting, analyzing, and reporting data. The Director works collaboratively with Information Technology to develop and use an institutional data warehouse used to create and coordinate the distribution of accurate and consistent institutional data, including dashboard indicators for the College as a whole, and individual core functional areas and a common data set, and an institutional profile used to meet internal and external reporting requirements and other survey inquires, which include IPEDs, NSSE, SSI, and other accreditation, advancement, marketing, and governmental requests.  The Director helps to maintain a culture of assessment and evidence-based decision-making at the College. The Director also serves accreditation-related committees involved in assessment and planning, monitoring mid-year and end-of-year departmental reports and completing Institutional Outcomes Assessment Reports.

 

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Institutional Research, Higher Education, Statistics, Marketing Research and Analysis, or research oriented field. Strong quantitative, analytical, and research design skills. Five years of experience in institutional research and assessment. Knowledge of higher education accreditation requirements, research methods, and, continuous assessment and improvement processes; ability to analyze and interpret data, and communicate findings accurately in written, oral, and graphic formats; experience with relational databases systems and functions, student information systems Crystal Reports, SPSS or SAS, Excel, or equivalent software to translate quantitative and qualitative data into meaningful information for strategic planning, assessment, reporting, improvement, and evidence-based decision-making.
