Position Summary

 

The Office of Institutional Advancement at High Point University seeks an Advancement Officer to identify, cultivate, solicit and steward Leadership Gift Benefactors for the highest priorities of High Point University.  Candidates should have a proven track record of success in sales/business development/relationship building/fundraising.  Travel will be required to meet with prospective donors. Candidates should demonstrate a passion for building relationships, for the sales/business development process and for High Point University.

 

Responsibilities

 

  • Proactively identify potential Leadership Gift Benefactors among alumni, parents, staff, faculty and other sources.
  • Collaborate with senior leadership, faculty and staff to develop proposals which align with the University’s top priorities and fit benefactor interests.
  • Manage prospect portfolio of approximately 200 current and potential Leadership Benefactors in a disciplined, organized manner, consulting with the Vice President for Institutional Advancement and other team members regarding strategy, development and action plan for solicitation, closure and stewardship.
  • Visit a minimum of 15 current and prospective benefactors per month and travel as needed.
  • Raise new commitments of $2.0 million to $4.0 million per year, with a minimum of 20 solicitations of $100,000 or more.
  • Participate as a member of the University’s overall Institutional Advancement organization in the execution of a comprehensive Institutional Advancement program.
  • Embrace and articulate the mission and culture of High Point University and possess a strong working knowledge of its programs and departments.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

 

  • Master’s degree from an accredited institution.  MBA preferred.
  • Five years successful sales, business development, or fundraising experience, with a demonstrable record of progressive achievement. 
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and ability to think/plan strategically.Enthusiasm for the mission of High Point University.
  • Enthusiasm for sales/business development/fundraising.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills.
  • High energy, drive, integrity, sincerity.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to perform tasks on own initiative.
  • Willingness to travel and work weekends.
